Shannon Babb's 2018 win total reached the double figure mark on Saturday evening, August 11, as he recorded his tenth victory in the annual #FALS Frenzy at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois! Shannon earned Fast Time honors in MARS Racing Series qualifying, won his heat race, and later paced the stout field from laps 26-50 in the feature to record the $10,000 top prize over Brian Shirley, Brandon Sheppard, Frank Heckenast, Jr., and Tanner English. On Sunday night, August 12 at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois, Shannon wound up finishing sixth in the rain-postponed UMP Summer Nationals special, which boasted a $5,000 payday. Shannon Babb Seventh in $50,000 USA Nationals at Cedar Lake!

As the calendar turned to the month of August, the #18 team found themselves near the Minnesota / Wisconsin border at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin on August 2-4 for the 31st Annual 'USA Nationals,' which was sanctioned once again by the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series. The extended weekend kicked off on Thursday evening with a $6,000 to win preliminary program. Shannon Babb timed in fourth quickest in Group B during qualifying prior to scoring an impressive win in heat race action. After starting the 40-lap main event from the outside of the second row, Shannon only completed 23 circuits in the contest and retired in the twenty-second position.

At CLS on Friday night, a double set of heat races with passing points were held to help set the lineups for Saturday's grand finale, which once again boasted a $50,000 winner's check. Shannon won his first heat race of the evening, while he ran fourth in his final prelim. After running eighth in the dash, Shannon earned the rights to the outside of the fourth row for the start of the 100-lap crown jewel main event. On Saturday in the 'USA Nationals,' the Moweaqua, Illinois ace vaulted up inside of the top five before sliding back to seventh at the unfurling of the checkered flag. The 29th edition of the 'Prairie Dirt Classic' took center stage over the July 27-28 weekend at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois. On Friday night, Shannon Babb posted the fourth quickest lap in Group B during World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series qualifying prior to scoring the $2,500 victory in his qualifying feature with a last lap pass over Brian Shirley, Tanner English, and Jonathan Davenport. After drawing the fourth starting spot in Saturday's 100-lap 'Prairie Dirt Classic,' Shannon battled in and around the top five throughout the distance before placing sixth behind only $30,000 winner Devin Moran, Mike Marlar, Brandon Sheppard, Chris Madden, and Billy Drake. Shannon Babb Knocks on Door to Top Ten in Silver Dollar Nationals

Next up on the racing calendar for Shannon Babb Racing (SBR) was a trip to I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska from July 19-21 for the 8th edition of the 'Silver Dollar Nationals,' which was once again sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Things kicked off on Thursday night in the Cornhusker State with the rain-postponed 'Malvern Bank Go 50.' Shannon Babb finished fifth in his heat race and second in his B-Main to earn the twentieth starting spot in the $10,000 to win feature event. Unfortunately, Shannon was one of the first retirees in the 50-lapper and was officially placed twenty-fourth in the final rundown.

On Friday evening at I-80, Shannon ran sixth in his first heat race of the night and third in his final prelim. After securing a triumph in Saturday's consolation event, Shannon rolled off from the inside of the tenth row in the $53,000 to win 'Silver Dollar Nationals.' During the course of the 80-lap contest, the Moweaqua, Illinois standout improved seven positions on his way to a solid twelfth place showing. Nightly UMP Summer Nationals Results for #18 Team...

The rain-postponed UMP Summer Nationals stop at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois took place earlier tonight and another $5,000 payday was on the line. Shannon Babb qualified seventh quickest in his group during time trials, but blew a motor in doing so. After unloading a backup car, Shannon ran fourth in his heat race and later moved up to second in the 40-lap main event to trail only victor Brian Shirley at the unfurling of the checkered flag. The #18 SBR team has since decided to pull off the "Hell Tour" and will not enter the final five programs this week in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio...

(July 8, 2018) A rough racetrack greeted the cars and stars of the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tonight at Quincy Raceway in Quincy, Illinois. A total of 22 entrants signed into the pit area to vie for the $5,000 top prize. Shannon Babb logged the fastest lap in his group during time trials before scoring the win in his stacked heat race. Shannon then started third on the grid in the 40-lap contest and was headed towards a top three finish before a broken right rear axle late in the distance relegated him to seventh in the final finishing order.

(July 7, 2018) The #18 team trekked to Highland Speedway in Highland, Illinois tonight for another $10,000 to win battle on the grueling UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour. Shannon Babb once again paced the field during qualifying to earn Fast Time honors and he later ran second in heat race action. After rolling off from the outside of the second row in the 40-lap headliner, Shannon drove up to second to finish a close runner-up behind only victor Chad Zobrist!

(July 6, 2018) A $10,000 winner's check was up for grabs tonight on the "Hell Tour" at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois. Shannon Babb earned Fast Time honors during the qualifying session prior to picking up a heat race triumph. After leading the first five circuits of the 40-lapper, Shannon grabbed the point again on lap 27 and appeared on his way to another Summer Nationals win. However, a flat right rear tire on lap 34 caused him to pull into the pits for a new Hoosier shoe and he restarted at the tail end of the lead lap cars with only six laps to go. Shannon then steered his #18 ride back up to sixth to finish behind only winner Billy Moyer, Brian Shirley, Jason Feger, Kent Robinson, and Tim Manville.

(July 5, 2018) Shannon Babb made the short trek from his race shop to the mighty Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois tonight for the 38th edition of the 'Herald & Review 100.' Shannon knocked down the fastest lap in his group during time trials and later ran second in his heat race and fourth in the fast dash. The Moweaqua, Illinois ace then started fourth on the grid in the $5,000 to win main event at the tiny 1/5-mile oval, but a broken axle on lap 53 relegated him to a disappointing fourteenth place showing.

(July 4, 2018) The #18 SBR team celebrated the 4th of July holiday with fireworks and racing action tonight in a $5,000 to win "Hell Tour" event at Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Illinois. Shannon Babb clicked off the fastest lap in his group during qualifying and later claimed a victory in his loaded heat race. After starting third on the grid in the 40-lap feature event, Shannon was running third when the leaders encountered lap traffic. Unfortunately, he was collected in a crash and retired from the contest with heavy damage in the nineteenth position.

(July 3, 2018) The UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour heated back up tonight at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee, as a $5,000 winner's check was up for grabs. Shannon Babb posted the fastest lap in his group during the qualifying session before scoring the victory in heat race action. After drawing the outside of the front row in the 40-lap headliner, Shannon led the first thirty-six circuits and appeared to be on his way to another "Hell Tour" triumph. However, a busted right rear wheel on the 37th circuit caused Shannon to slap the wall and relegated him to a twelfth place effort at the Volunteer State oval.

(July 1, 2018) Tonight's "Hell Tour" program at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois was washed out during the afternoon by rain showers. The $5,000 to win contest has been rescheduled for Monday, July 9.

(June 30, 2018) Another $10,000 top prize was on the line in a UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals and World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series co-sanctioned shootout tonight at Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri. Shannon Babb knocked down the second quickest lap in Group A during time trials before claiming yet another heat race triumph. After leading the first fifteen laps in the 50-lap feature event, Shannon was racing hard for a podium effort when contact with eventual winner Brandon Sheppard gave him a flat right rear tire on the 35th circuit. The current "Hell Tour" point leader wound up returning to the racetrack to salvage a disappointing eighteenth place showing.

(June 29, 2018) The UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals and World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series co-sanctioned a $10,000 to win clash tonight at the sprawling Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Indiana. Shannon Babb stopped the clock second fastest in his group during time trials and later scored the victory in heat race action. After starting the 30-lap main event from the pole position and leading most of the first 24 circuits, Shannon slipped back to second to finish an impressive runner-up behind only victor Devin Moran!

(June 28, 2018) The next race on the "Hell Tour" grind for the #18 team came tonight at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois. A strong field of 34 entrants were in the pit area tonight at the 1/4-mile oval to race for the $5,000 winner's check. Current Summer Nationals point leader Shannon Babb laid down the third fastest lap in Group B during time trials before picking up the win in heat race action. After leading the first twenty circuits of the A-Main from the outside of the front row, Shannon wound up slipping back to third at the completion of the 40-lapper. He trailed only victor Brian Shirley and runner-up Dennis Erb, Jr. when the checkers fell over the field.

(June 25, 2018) The "Hell Tour" stormed back into the Land of Lincoln tonight for the rain-postponed stop at Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois. 23 competitors drove through the pit gate to vie for the $5,000 first place prize. Shannon Babb remained red-hot, as he knocked down the fastest time in his group during qualifying, won his heat race, and recorded his 97th career UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals triumph in the A-Main. After starting fourth on the grid in the 50-lapper and leading several laps following the halfway mark, Shannon settled for a solid third place podium effort behind only victor Billy Moyer and runner-up Brian Shirley!

(June 22, 2018) Mother Nature finally gave a reprieve to the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour tonight, but several days of heavy rain through the Land of Lincoln left Tri-City Speedway with a rough, hammer-down racing surface. At the Granite City, Illinois oval, Shannon Babb laid down the sixth fastest lap in Group B during qualifying, but unfortunately hit the concrete wall hard in his heat race after going airborne leaving the rugged racing surface. Shannon unloaded a back-up car, took a provisional, and improved fifteen spots during the attrition-filled $10,000 to win headliner to salvage a fourth place showing behind only winner Ryan Unzicker, Bobby Pierce, and Frank Heckenast, Jr.

(June 21, 2018) Thursday's scheduled $5,000 to win "Hell Tour" shootout at Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois has shifted to Monday, June 25 because of wet grounds and a rainy forecast. The next UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals showdown will be Friday, June 22 at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois where a $10,000 payday will be up for grabs.

(June 20, 2018) The 'Wildman Kelly Classic' took center stage tonight at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois, as another $5,000 top prize was on the line for the cars and stars racing with the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour. Shannon Babb clicked off the sixth quickest time in his group during qualifying prior to grabbing the third transfer spot through his heat race. Shannon Babb, who had won the previous three UMP Summer Nationals stops, timed in fifth quickest in qualifying before finishing fourth in his heat race. Shannon Babb posted the ninth fastest lap in Group A during the qualifying session before finishing fifth in his loaded heat race. Following a triumph in his B-Main, Shannon worked his way past six competitors during the 40-lap affair, which was contested on a one-groove racing surface, to claim an eleventh place performance in the "Hell Tour" lid lifter.

The Shannon Babb Racing (SBR) team and driver Shannon Babb trekked to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from June 7-9 to compete in the annual running of the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' After the $5,000 to win prelim scheduled for Thursday night was pushed back to Friday afternoon due to inclement weather, Shannon won his heat race and placed fourth in the 25-lap daytime sprint behind only winner Jonathan Davenport, Don O'Neal, and Josh Richards. Later that evening, Shannon finished sixth in his heat race and won his B-Main prior to streaking up to seventh in 25-lapper, which boasted a $10,000 payday. At the "Big E" on Saturday, Shannon ran fourth in his loaded heat race, utilized a high point provisional, and later retired early in the $100,000 to win 'Dirt Late Model Dream' in the twenty-sixth position. On Friday night at Granite City, Shannon timed in sixth fastest in qualifying, won his heat race, and pulled off late in the 30-lap headliner while running in the fourth spot, which dropped the Moweaqua, Illinois star to a fifteenth place showing. Babb Transfers into Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway

The Shannon Babb Racing (SBR) team invaded the state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri from May 24-26 for the 26th version of the Lucas Oil 'Show-Me 100,' which was co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the Lucas Oil MLRA Series. The three-day crown jewel spectacular at the 3/8-mile facility kicked off with a pair of preliminary programs - each of which paid $6,000 to the winner. On Thursday night, Shannon Babb placed sixth in his heat race and fourth in his B-Main, while he ran sixth in his heat race and third in his B-Main on Friday evening. Unfortunately, Shannon was not able to make the start in either preliminary feature event.

In the grand finale of the 'Show-Me 100' on Saturday, Shannon drove to a second place finish in his B-Main to earn the inside of the twelfth row in the $30,000 to win headliner. During the course of the 100-lap contest, the Moweaqua, Illinois star blasted up inside of the top ten before retiring with only 10 circuits remaining, which dropped him to twenty-first in the final finishing order. Shannon Babb, of Moweaqua, Illinois, racked up his third feature win of the 2018 racing season in thrilling fashion on Friday evening, May 11 in the 'Farmer City 74' at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois! Shannon timed in second quickest in Group A during the qualifying session before bagging a heat race triumph. After starting the 74-lap MARS Racing Series headliner from the inside of the second row, Shannon ran second through much of the feature distance before rocketing past race long leader Billy Moyer coming out of turn four on the final lap. The "Moweaqua Missile" captured the $10,000 top prize in a photo finish over Moyer, Brian Shirley, Tim Manville, and Devin Gilpin.
